Steps to reproduce:

If I download a file, and click firefox's download manager the entire PC freezes for 30s or so. I'm using firefox 39.0.3, on the latest version of manjaro 64 bit xfce, and been having this issue for a while. and hoping for this issue to be fixed each time a new version comes out.

Severity: normal → critical

We have several issues, but only recently. Version 60.6.1esr. The impact can be quite dramatic. I think that some operations will be happening in the wrong thread.

This issue is 4 years old, I don't know if it still happens to this day. I'm on another laptop, another firefox version and another OS. It stopped happening with me on this laptop, maybe the bug is still there, maybe it got fixed, I have no idea.

Closing this as resolved:worksforme, there are no recent known issues about the browsing freezing with these steps. However, please do re-open it if it is reproducible again on the latest Firefox versions.
