Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0
Build ID: 20150812163655
Steps to reproduce:
Following scenario: I have installed Adbobe Flash and I have set it to click-to-play ("ask to activate"). In most cases, I don't want to use Flash. Only under some rare circumstances when there is no alternative I have to use Flash.
Now the problem is that every time I visit a website a notification bar appears telling me that this website uses Flash (because most website will use Flash for their advertisement). For me, this notification bar is very annoying. I would like to completely disable this notification bar (for all websites) but that seems to be impossible. With Firefox version prior to 40, it was possible to disable this notification bar with a simple style sheet hack (for example, used by this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/hide-plugin-notifications/), but since Firefox 40 this does not work any more.
By "plugin notification bar", I mean this: http://help.galileo.usg.edu/docs/firefox_djvu_3.png (ONLY part 1 of the image. Not to be confused with the plugin icon that shows up in the address bar)
Actual results:
There is no option to completely disable the notification bar (for all websites) that shows up when visiting a website that uses a click-to-play plugin.
Expected results:
There should be an option to completely disable the notification bar (for all websites) that shows up when visiting a website that uses a click-to-play plugin.

Benjamin, any comment? I'm asking because this RFE was wontfixed because the add-on was provided. There's a second review that states the add-on doesn't work in Firefox 40:

I haven't had time to debug why the addon isn't working. But still this the kind of thing we want to provide through addons, not hidden config options.

Then make an official addon, developed and maintained by the Mozilla corporation!
But at the moment, *you* (resp. the Mozilla corporation) don't provide anything.
Only some volunteers / users are providing such an unofficial addon, but there is no guarantee that this will work in the future! Especially with this new WebExtensions stuff the current working addon is predestinated to break in a few month. And then? It will be a game of pure chance if there will be someone to fix the addon again.
Or is Firefox more like the Elder Scrolls of the web browsers, where you need a bunch of mods / addons to fix all the obvious design flaws by the developers?
