User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0 Build ID: 20150812163655 Steps to reproduce: Since installing Firefox 40.0.2, the search bar and address bar default Google Search takes you to Google.com and not Google.co.uk for search results. This isn't an IP recognition issue. If I go to Google.com, it sucessfully redirects to Google.co.uk. I have checked about:config, and all locale settings are correct for GB (Great Britain). I have tried cleaning all cookies, caches and site preferences and also running Firefox in Safe Mode, without addons and also a clean install with a brand new profile and the issue still occurs. I have the issue on both Windows 10 and OS X El Capitan. Actual results: All searches from the address and search bar resulting in searches from Google.com not Google.co.uk. Expected results: Search results should be coming from Google.co.uk for en-GB and respective locale searches for other countries.

There is some further investigation in to this issue that has taken place over at the mozillaZine forums: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=14290163#p14290163 The issue looks like the google.com is hard coded in to the plugin's google.xml file.

google.com has always been "hardcoded" in the google search plugin in firefox - it depends on google where they redirect that traffic
Yes, its the same issue that I logged 1202321, only difference is that I'm in melbourne, I'm sure its an issue in all regions other than US. It probably worked back in the day but google has evolved I guess. They don't force you to the appropriate page anymore, If I want to, I can view google.co.uk from Melbourne n others n vice verse.
