Not every chipset vendor hosts their own SUPL server since Google provides SUPL server for their Android devices free of charge.
Therefore, some of our partners doesn't have any A-GPS solution on FxOS, such as SUPL based AGPS and Extended Ephemeris solution.
It would be useful for those partners to have an A-GPS alternative which don't need to use SUPL server.

Mozilla had been worked with Spreadtrum on developing A-GPS alternative for Dolphin project.
The experimental feature is called "A-GPS over HTTP".
It uses ephemeris injection approach which is similar to Qualcomm's gpsOneXTRA.
The #Attachment 8650353 [details] describes the concept of "A-GPS over HTTP".
Since Dolphin took SUPL server rental as short/mid term solution, 'A-GPS over HTTP' was treated as low priority task.
I'd like to upload the patch of prototype of mozilla side to Bugzilla for future reference.
