Is it only one contact that fails?
Please check error console.
Also check that the addressbook file in the thunderbird profile is not readonly.
Does it happen in safe mode?

It does not fail on all contact but many of them. (some imap linkage here ?)

Safe mode seem to show the same behaviour.

Console error show this at startup :

Horodatage : 27/08/2015 18:15:53
Erreur : uncaught exception: 2147746065

And this when I click "OK" on the erase-confirmation popup :

Horodatage : 27/08/2015 18:17:19
Erreur : An error occurred executing the cmd_delete command: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED) [nsIAbDirectory.deleteCards]" nsresult: "0x80004001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger/content/addressbook/abCommon.js :: AbDelete :: line 312" data: no]
Fichier Source : chrome://global/content/globalOverlay.js
Ligne : 80

FYI, I was trying to remove duplicate contacts.

Maybe those contacts are in some read-only addressbook, e.g. LDAP. Are you on the "All addressbook" node? Try to select your Personal Addressbook in the left AB tree.

Cannot delete a contact from a mailing LIST within the quick search results.
Works fine in the main address book, but not in the sub-address books or "lists".

Go into a sub-address book (a "list"), search on a name, select the name, click the delete button or right-click > delete, and nothing happens.
