User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0
Build ID: 20150826023504

Steps to reproduce:

Computer is running Windows XP and Actual Multiple Monitors (AMM) v5.1.1 (a multi-monitor tool from

Try to start Firefox as usual via the icon.

Actual results:

The Firefox window does not appear. In Task Manager, Firefox loads and uses approx 60MB of memory, then just stalls. The Firefox window never appears.

Note - this has only happened with this version of Firefox (40.0.3) and the previous version (40.0.2?). Prior versions worked fine with AMM v5.1.1.

Expected results:

Firefox should have started normally.

Note - if the AMM utility is stopped, Firefox can be started normally via the icon. Then AMM can be loaded again.

Maybe AMM is incompatible with FF40. Did you ask the question on AMM support?

If it's a regression in FF40 and you're able to reproduce the issue on your machine, you can install and use the tool mozregression.
See for details (use command line, it's better)

I don't know AMM works but Mozreg will download each nightly and launch it automatically from a new profile, so maybe you will adapt Mozreg to AMM by starting Mozreg with a custom profile. Ask me if you have some issues to repro the bug with Mozreg.

As far as I can tell, AMM v5.1.1 is a pretty ancient version (they're currently on v8.6 and I see references in their support forums dating back to 2010 of running Fx 3.6 on AMM v6.0). Given that this is likely an incompatibility issue with an old version and the lack of reply to the needinfo? request from 5 weeks ago, I'm going to close this bug as incomplete.

Aziz, if you're able to reproduce the issue on newer versions of the AMM software, feel free to reopen this bug and we can try to narrow the regression window further.
