Thunderbird V38.2.0.5703 crash details.rtf

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/44.0.2403.157 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Thunderbird was automatically updated and started up initially. After rebooting Windows 7, Thunderbird always crashes.

Actual results:

On TBird startup, Tbird crashes. Can't do a Tbird Safe mode. Don't get an option to submit error details via crash reporter. Using Win 7 64 bit and Tbird 32 bit. Crash problem details included in attached text file.

Expected results:

I would like to have email access via Thunderbird.

Should I revert back to a previous version. If so which one?
Should a download a 64 bit version instead.

If you find a crash ID please post it, per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports

If you do not, then DL and install prior version http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/31.7.0/win32/en-US/

I didn't find a crash id so have reverted back to TBird 31.7.0 and everything is functioning okay.

I noticed that the had been a Microsoft update after the install of the TBird 38.2; I did not notice any updates to the MS C Runtime library so don't know what the issue with the msvcp120.dll.

Questions:
Should I be using the 64 bit version of TBird?

I am looking at upgrading to Windows 10. Any concerns with TBird and Windows 10

Thanks

I would wait a few months.

no

Version 38.3.0 will be out in a couple weeks. Suggest you give it a try then by downloading https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/
