RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1200934

Details

(Keywords: crash)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0
Build ID: 20150903105351

Steps to reproduce:

I was on yande.re downloading some pictures.
I had YouTube opened in one tab, then about 6-8 tabs of yande.re images open downloading.
Keep in mind that I was not loading the webpage (e.g. https://yande.re/post/show/330479), but was actually downloading the image from their archives (link on the left hand side of the website) (e.g. https://files.yande.re/image/1d9ebe896cda00fb9ae2dee7e1e4d4d9/yande.re%20330479%20tagme%20thighhighs.jpg).

I had about 6-8 tabs of downloading pictures, and this caused firefox to crash. This happened about 3 times within the span of about 7 mins.

This is on Firefox 40.0.3 (but I remember this happening on the other 40.x too), with Linux kernel 4.2.

Actual results:

With the new Firefox version 40.x, Firefox has begun crashing very frequently.
I am not sure what the cause of this is, but one is reproducible.
Sometimes Firefox crashes a while after I first start it. This time, it seems to crash whenever I try to (down)load multiple image files from a website.

Expected results:

Th expected result should've been firefox not crashing.
Do you have the crash report in about:crashes?

I downgraded back 38.2.1. When I try about:crashes in the address bar, it says "problem loading page. The address isn't valid"
I can't reproduce this bug on Windows 8.1. I've got fiber. I haven't got enough time to download 8 pics at the same time.
I can't reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 14.04 neither. I've got fiber. I haven't got enough time to download 8 pics at the same time.

Hey Shanaa,
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

It is working for me. Are you still able to reproduce this in the latest version ?
Flags: needinfo?(shakuganxxii)
I am still able to reproduce this.
But it seems that the binary Firefox works fine.

I think it may be a bug in Firefox using the system's cairo, icu, jpeg, libvpx or sqlite, instead of its own. :/

I usually compile firefox from source with the USE flags:
"system-cairo system-icu system-jpeg system-libvpx system-sqlite" for faster compilation on Gentoo Linux.

It is duplicate of bug-1200934.
