The geoip updater script fails sometimes, which is fine - but if it fails for a long period of time, we need to alarm about that in Nagios somehow.
Filing this to track the necessity - please work with Webops for implementation details (like how to tell if it failed).
:jakem, setting needinfo on you to provide some details on how the updater works and what happens when it fails and etc.

The best way to do this would be if the updater script could touch a file on a successful run so we can just monitor the file age.

Any update with this so we can proceed?
We're working to decom this entire site soon, so this may become a noop. Ping us again in 1-2 weeks?

Nope, fully decom'ing it. Clients are advised to move to MLS as soon as possible, and they've all been provided with the necessary steps to do so.
