The geoip updater script fails sometimes, which is fine - but if it fails for a long period of time, we need to alarm about that in Nagios somehow. Filing this to track the necessity - please work with Webops for implementation details (like how to tell if it failed). :jakem, setting needinfo on you to provide some details on how the updater works and what happens when it fails and etc.
Flags: needinfo?(nmaul)
The best way to do this would be if the updater script could touch a file on a successful run so we can just monitor the file age.

Any update with this so we can proceed?
We're working to decom this entire site soon, so this may become a noop. Ping us again in 1-2 weeks?

Nope, fully decom'ing it. Clients are advised to move to MLS as soon as possible, and they've all been provided with the necessary steps to do so.
