hitting STOP on an IMAP message breaks mozilla

Details
1) look at your new message on an IMAP page
2) press STOP when a long message is loading
the STOP command works fine, and the message stop loading,
but that's the last thing you can do with the mail client:
From that point, Mozilla will fail to load any other message,
staying in the "Loading..." phase forever.
Restarting Mozilla will "fix" the problem.
