RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1196662

People

(Reporter: floridamatt, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0
Build ID: 20150916030203

Steps to reproduce:

On two Windows 8 computers, after updating Thunderbird from 38.1 to 38.2, TB does not check for mail at the requested intervals (which range from 5 to 60 minutes). It may eventually check 12+ hours later. A manual "get new messages" continues to work correctly. This appears to not be (directly) related to sleep/wake, as the problem has been observed on computers kept awake for hours.

Reinstalling 38.1 and disabling automatic updates is a successful workaround.

For reference each computer has multiple email accounts at one server, and one has individual accounts at two other servers. All accounts are affected equally.
You say this is not strictly related to hibernation/sleep but still please observe bug 1196662. When that one is fixed at least the hibernation part is removed and you will see if any problem is remaining.
41.0b2 from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all-beta.html has the fix for hibernation. If you don't mind trying the beta, please let us know if it fixes your issue

I have installed the beta requested, and it appears to correct the problem.
Thanks for the update. That makes this a duplicate of bug 1196662

41.0b2 appears to have a bug of its own. I have my folder headers set up to show From and To (Recipient). But when I installed 41.0b2, these were changed to "Correspondents". I had to change them back manually, and that only works for one folder at a time. I believe it is a bug to lose the user's preferences for folder message list columns. It makes much more work for the user, particularly if they don't know how to set the columns for all folders, not just the current folder.

I've seen this. It would be useful to know if this can be reproded in 41.0b1 and 38.2.0
