I couldn't find a dup on this and this may even go against the spec.

Ideally, if a new message comes in and it fits the criteria of the view you're
in it should add that message.

An example:

If I have done a Quick Search on the word "test" and then a new mail comes in
with the subject "test", I'd expect to see the new message in my current quick
search.

This was not in spec, initially. I don't know if it has been added of late.

This was specifically mentioned in the spec that the view would not be updated:

excerpt from spec (http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/specs/qksearch/): 
"Get Msg".  If the user pulls or receives new messages while search results are
being displayed, and any of the new messages match the search criteria, the
Thread Pane displaying the matching results is NOT updated.  If the user were to
perform the search again, though, the new messages would be displayed.

For time/resource contraints, we made that decision. But if it is agreed that 
this is a behavior/enhancement we would like to have in the future, the spec can 
be modified as such.

right, I'm not suggesting fixing this right now.  I do believe that if we ever
do something like virtual folders that we'll need to be able to update views on
the fly.

OK using mar22 commercial trunk build: win98, mac OS 10.1, linux rh6.2
Checked with biff updates, Get Msg, move/copy to folder, filter to folder.
Checked with IMAP, AOL, POP, Local Folders, News.
Generally working okay, basic scenarios tested. Any specific problems with quick
search results view update will be logged separately.
