User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0 Build ID: 20150826023504 Steps to reproduce: There are issues in the HTML editor, which make it very hard to use when editing longer emails. Actual results: 1) Adding an HTML signature with font-sizing causes issues. 2) Setting a non-default HTML text size for editing confuses the editor and produces mixed size fonts. 3) Occasionally it jams and you cannot delete into or type into unless you click in the middle of that text section - something about the boundary prevents navigation, so the delete key does nothing. 4) Draft emails often come back with peculiar characters in them - a capital A with a hat. Expected results: v38.2.0
Note, I use identities, and switching the outgoing mailbox causes changes to the email. Think the old signature is supposed to vanish, and the new one appear. But this often gets added in the wrong place. It might be that this switching is a precursor to some of the issues above. Note, as a programmer, I would appreciate a "see HTML behind" view, so I could hand correct anomalies - I suspect this would also help debug what's going on.
David, I think you'll have to split that up into several bug reports, and then please provide detailed steps to reproduce for each. "Adding an HTML signature with font-sizing causes issues." is too vague... As a workaround for HTML view, you can Select ALL text, then Insert > HTML which will let you view and edit the underlying HTML (don't expect perfection, but at least it'll work somewhat).

Please check for existing bugs, I'm sure we have some about signatures and fonts, maybe not in combination. > 2) Setting a non-default HTML text size for editing confuses the editor and > produces mixed size fonts. dito > 3) Occasionally it jams and you cannot delete into or type into unless you > click in the middle of that text section - something about the boundary > prevents navigation, so the delete key does nothing. We need STR for that in a separate bug > 4) Draft emails often come back with peculiar characters in them - a capital > A with a hat. You already filed that as Bug 1207532.
David, without your cooperation on the issues raised in my comment 2 and comment 3, we can't do anything here, so we'll just have to close this bug as invalid.
