User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0 Build ID: 20150826023504 Steps to reproduce: I have installed MS Office 2016 64 bits for Windows 7 SP1 x86_64 bits. Firefox 40.0.2 was previously installed and working fine. After office installation, icon for .htm, .html had gone blank. I tried - FileExtention info - Registry edits - Firefox Reinstall but none of them was helpful. It came to my notice that Iconcache.db is playing a important role. So I deleted it and reboot but still nothing has changed. Actual results: After office installation, icon for .htm, .html had gone blank. It means Iconcache.db is not going to rebuild regularly. Expected results: Icon should be there, no matter what other installation I am doing.
Either your icon cache is corrupt, or another program modified icons on your system. Neither of these is a Firefox bug. You should also avoid tampering with the registry manually or via utilities; such measures often do more harm than good. 1. Clear the icon cache. http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/how-to-rebuild-the-icon-cache-in-windows-vista/ 2. Restart your computer. 3. Click the Windows logo orb on the taskbar to bring up the Start Menu, then choose Default Programs. 4. Click “Set your default programs”. 5. Click Internet Explorer on the left, then the “Set this program as default” button on the right. 6. In Firefox, click the ≡ Menu Button, then choose Options. 7. Near the top, click the “Make default” button.
