The feedback menu has been available to 100% of people for two weeks now. I did a quick comparison of numbers between Sept 16-28 and June 17-29* on the en-US versions of the affected pages. Connecting people to MDN: - "Join the MDN community" 81 -> 201 (+148%) - signup page: 2668 -> 2478 (-7%) - "Feedback" 13 -> 1246 (+9484%) - "Getting Started" 916 -> 926 (+1%) - Report a content problem 113 -> 191 (+69%) - Report a bug 4 -> 107 (+2575%) - irc.mozilla.org 14 -> 11 - Bugs in MDN component from non team members: 18 -> 5 Connecting people to Mozilla: - "Connect" 3990 -> 303 (-92%) - hacks.mozilla.org 223 -> 191 (-14%) - this is a small portion of the overall traffic we send to hacks, most hacks traffic goes directly to posts rather than the home page. - stackoverflow.com/r/mozilla 138 -> 19 (-86%) - support.mozilla.org 0 -> 271 I'd like to recommend: 1) we rename the menu back to "connect" and link to that page 2) we keep the drop down menu 3) we remove the waffle code * the week-before the week-before the pull request was merged, the week immediately before had July 4th in it so I thought the numbers might be off.
I agree with the recommendations, though I would have run the analysis as a split test where the feedback menu was enabled for 50% of users so we could compare the same time-frame. Also, can we change "Report a bug" to "Report a bug with MDN code" or just remove it? More clicks is good, but I've also noticed an increase in the number of "Thunderbird is broken" bugs that we're getting in the MDN product/component now. :/

Consensus on the mailing list is that keeping people away from the Connect page until it has been updated is a good thing. I'm just going to remove the waffle flag.
