There are three options:
1) Mozilla internal only google group https://groups.google.com/a/mozilla.com/forum/?hl=en#!creategroup
2) Mailman List (requests via Service Now)
3) A "Discussion forum", which as far as I can tell is a superset of #2, and also includes a newsgroup listing and google groups group

iirc the archive feature for #2 is mailman's awful archive feature, so I'm leaning towards #3, since we want to be able to link to the archive for things like bug 1197988. It will also mean people can follow via google groups or newsgroup, if they don't want to use emails.

+1 for (3). I'd prefer to be able to use the newsgroup, if possible!

Out of these, I think #1 makes the most sense:
1) mozilla.tools.treeherder
2) mozilla.dev.treeherder
3) mozilla.treeherder

The new list has been created. People can follow via:
* Email... https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/tools-treeherder
* Google Groups... https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mozilla.tools.treeherder
* Usenet: mozilla.tools.treeherder on news.mozilla.org

And to send us a message, they can email tools-treeherder@lists.m.o

NB: The new list is both public and archived, so things like log excerpts containing IP addresses must not be sent there.

I'm emailed dev.tree-management and a handful of other mailing lists about the switch, and have updated the wiki page:

I've tweaked the mailman settings to match those I'd chosen for dev.tree-management (eg auto-approve emails from a mozilla email address), and changed the initial admin password to something randomly generated.
