User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/45.0.2454.101 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Apply Webapp Manifest standards spec for "App manifest". The same schema/spec for Apps and Extensions, for all platforms (mobile, tv, pc). Recognize manifest.json by HTML <link rel=manifest href=/manifest.json> W3C spec https://w3c.github.io/manifest/ Non-standard schema https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Apps/Build/Manifest (must be based on standards spec) Chrome support/approach: https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2014/11/Support-for-installable-web-apps-with-webapp-manifest-in-chrome-38-for-Android https://developer.chrome.com/apps/manifest https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/manifest
Also https://wiki.mozilla.org/Browser_Extensions needs top be updated based on standards.
