Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/45.0.2454.101 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
- update Firefox to 41.0.1
- switch from old disabled sync to new account based sync
- visit some links (live bookmark and news page) one one connected compute and click sync afterwards
- a day later start another connected computer, go to firefix, explicitly click "Sync now" and visit the news page and check the live bookmarks
Actual results:
- only some links of the news page was marked as visited. But not all. Checked and compared with a remote login to the first firefox
- the live bookmark links was not marked as visited
Expected results:
The previous token based sync did mark visited links and live book as visited on all connected firefox instances.

Hello,
Are you experiencing this on Firefox 42.0?
I can not reproduce on Win 8.1 or 10 on Firefox 42.0 or Nightly 45.0a1.
Thank you,
Justin

I have the issue currently with two Firefox 42 instances. One running on WinXP (refer as source) and the other running on Win7 (refer as target). Both instances run within the same network.
- I used the "source" firefox to browse different links
- I checked the same page (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/) on the "target" instance. (source: all news links are marked as visited; target instance top 4 news links are not visited)
- triggered "Sync now" on target and reload page: no change
- triggered "Sync now" on source, wait a minute, triggered "Sync now" on target: The 1., 3. and 4. link of the news list are marked as unread. Only the 2. Link changed to visited.
- Some visited links from "Live bookmarks" (feeds) are marked as unread on target.
- the page "about:sync-log" does not show a recent log entry. (last from 25.10. for source and 5.11. on target)
- Now I used "Sync now" on target again and no link changes.
Is there any more information I can provide?

Sync doesn's sync all of history but just a subset of it, I don't recall if it's 1000 pages or such.
I also think it takes a while cause the syncing is done in chunks.
So this may be just a symptom of that limit.

Did one more test:
- I clicked the already visited links on source again.
- I trigger "Sync now" on source and later on target and now the links are marked as visited.
It seems that the sync feature misses sometimes "events" on source and does not propagate it to the sync service.

Note that Sync doesn't trigger on a visit - there is a system where a change increments a "score" and it must meet a threshold before it is enough to trigger a Sync. A simple visit gets a very small score, so in practice, you will need to wait for a regularly scheduled sync (5 minutes by default) for these changes to be propagated.

I did not use parallel FF instances the last weeks.
Maybe close the issue and I can file a new one or reopen if the issue arise again.
