Hi Pascal, As communicated through email on Mike's latest request, here is the summary: Languages: *P1 Languages*: German French Russian Brazil Port Spanish (Spain) Italian Simplified Chinese Spanish (Latam) Bahasa Indonesian Japanese P2: open to more languages if communities are interested. *Deadlines*: Android: October 30th iOS: November 10th Source content in Spreadsheet to illustrate differences between draft and final, and the two platforms: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rpmhSbtICQkC1-JLmDaLHePfVMMU391asr81_7s03f4/edit#gid=0 See the attached of my drafts to the current files on github Things to note while I updated the existing github files: ==Apple==: -- I used this file first (even though the deadline is later) since this has been partially localized. I kept the existing unchanged strings, updated/add new strings. Check the google doc file for my comment. -- One section is out of sequence but the strings are the same. I don't know what's considered best practice. I keep the github sequence. ==Google Next==: -- I only added "New Strings", strings that iOS doesn't have. The "black colored" text is still new for the description, as we didn't include them when the file was first created. Hopefully with your magic, you allow the complete description shows up on this page, for instance: https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~pascalc/stores_l10n/locale/es-ES/google/next/ -- Also, I noticed the description titles and the screenshot titles are either the same or similar. I hope you can figure out a way to leverage them. Let me know if any questions. Thanks, Peiying
This is in the localizers pipe https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~pascalc/stores_l10n/#app_store_release https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~pascalc/stores_l10n/#play_next Note that we ship and publish on Google Play currently in 27 locales and are aiming full coverage (36 locales), therefore the translation of the new Google Play description is assigned to all of them.
Hi, I am opening the opportunity for the app store description to be localized in any of the accepted languages below. Please let me know by thursday 10/22 what languages the description will be translated in. Note that the translations dont need to be final until November 10, however we need to pre-select the languages by 10/22. -Apple accepts the following additional languages: English French Italian German Spanish (Spain) Chinese (Trad) Chinese (Simplified) Danish Dutch English (Australian) English (UK) Finnish French (Canada) Greek Indonesian Japanese Korean Malay Norwegian Portuguese (Brazil) Portuguese (Portugal) Russian Spanish (Mexico --> itunes specifies Mexico.. though Peiying recommends LATAM) Swedish Thai Turkish Vietnamese
Hi, Please let me know today the languages that you expect to have the description localized in? The text does not have to be localized by today (just by November 10) but I need to know ahead of time to turn on the languages.
Opting in for Turkish.
@Mike, The following locales have completed - Android: de, fr, it, pt-BR, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW iOS: de, fr, pt-BR, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW
(In reply to Peiying Mo [:CocoMo] from comment #6) > @Mike, The following locales have completed - > > Android: de, fr, it, pt-BR, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW > iOS: de, fr, pt-BR, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW We need to double check this list and its source, this is what I'm currently seeing. AppStore: da, de, es-MX, fr, it, pt-BR, pt-PT, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW. Android: da, de, es-MX, fr, it, pl, pt-BR, pt-PT, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW.
API to get the list of locales done: https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~pascalc/stores_l10n/api/apple/done/release/ https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~pascalc/stores_l10n/api/google/done/next/ Please note that some locales can be indicated as green on the main page of the dashboard (they have translated all the strings) but not be part of the "Done" API because one of their strings is longer than the maximum length limit for the store. This is for example the case for Italian and the appstore: You can see at the bottom that the keywords 100 characaters limit is passed (107 characters in Italian), so this string needs a fix.
(In reply to Peiying Mo [:CocoMo] from comment #6) > @Mike, The following locales have completed - > > Android: de, fr, it, pt-BR, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW > iOS: de, fr, pt-BR, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW Don't know where you get that list from, but as flod mentioned, this is not what our data is saying. Also given that we have communicated a deadline of October 30 to localizers for Android and November 10 for iOS and we are October 27, that's premature to give a final list. If you want to communicate the state of advancement, give the dashboard url. Android description is published automatically via the Google Play API by release drivers and they use our own API to get the data and the locales done, everything that is ready when they run the script (and they run it daily for updates) will be published, so it's probably not useful to mention that except for locales for which engagement created graphics that they will have to upload manually, outside of the automation process we have set up.
Android screenshots and other metadata (ie description, title..) deadline is October 30th iOS: Screenshot deadline has passed - it was 10/22. Description deadline is 11/10.
Japanese: done.
Indonesia: done (both Apple iOS description page update + Android 42 update)
