User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0 SeaMonkey/2.41a1 Build ID: 20150923090427 Steps to reproduce: Tried to send a mail message using hotmail.com's (now "Outlook Mail (Preview)" - even more cumbersome to use) SMTP server, now smtp.office365.com. I have Port set to 587, Connection security set to STARTTLS, and Authentication method set to "Normal password". Actual results: SMTP server smtp.office365.com responded with a ("Retry", "Enter New Password", "Cancel") window. Retry didn't work, and I know the password is good because the POP server (outlook.office365.com) works fine. Upon canceling, I get: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again. I have Port set to 587, Connection security set to STARTTLS, and Authentication method set to "Normal password". Expected results: Mail message should have been sent.
(In reply to James B. Higgs from comment #0) So you should ask for help at <https://community.office365.com/> and publish results here.

No response, so I close tis one for now. @Reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you still can reproduce the problem with a current SeaMonkey version and a current OS and if you can contribute a step by step instruction due to <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines> (containing every key press and every mouse click, with results from hotmail communitiy) how to reproduce the problem reliably.

NOTE: The correct address for the Hotmail SMTP server is now smtp-mail.outlook.com 1. In the Mail and News Window, in the Drafts folder, I right-click on a message entitled "Test" and select "Edit as New". 2. A "Compose: Test" window appears. It is from: curiousjbh@hotmail.com, to: curiousjbh@hotmail.com, the Subject is "Test", and the Text of the message is "Test". 3. I click the "Send" button. 4. I get the error "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com timed out. Try again. 5. Trying again yields the sames results. 6. My username is 10 characters long. My password is 14 characters long, includes 2 uppercase characters, 6 lowercase characters, 5 numeric characters, and 1 special character. 7. Because I am not a Business customer of Microsoft, I do not qualify for membership in the Office365 Community, therefore I do not have any feedback from that venue.

@reporter: Please do not reopen a Bug without contributing requested information 7.: Because ... So please ask elsewhere. You are wrong here, this is the bug tracking system not a help desk. Generally you should ask for help at <http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=40&sid=678f31daa3d82b6e89cf58c24bfa2ba3>, newsgroup mozilla.support.seamonkey or at as similar place.
Working now ... suspect problem was at Micro$oft's end, as this problem recurs after every revamp of Hotmail/Outlook.
