Maybe are there some other steps or background info needed to reproduce?

The screenshot you have, shows that there is something wrong on Microsoft's side. You weren't able to connect to Outlook. As Isabel tried, the servers in Europe seem to be okay at the moment. Stephane, could you try again to see if Microsoft fixed the authentication error in your part of the world?
If not, could you try to connect to outlook from a computer and see if you get the problem, there?

Hi!
I tried yesterday and today, it still does not.
From a computer it works well.
I'm having the same problem on B2G 2.1 (ZTE Open C - FR)
OS Version: 2.1.0.0-prerelease
Platform Version: 34.0
Build Identifier: 20150519144834

We shipped 2.1 with that feature working. I'm still guessing that the server in your region is having issues.
One way to make sure of that can be:
1. Turn on the debugging of the Contacts app [1]
2. On Firefox Desktop, open WebIDE and connect to your device.
3. On your device, open Contacts.
4. On WebIDE, open the "Communications" app.
5. Once open, select the "network" tab
6. On your device, go to the Microsoft login page
7. Some network requests should have appeared in the network tab. Identify the Microsoft one, copy the link and try it on Firefox Desktop.
If you don't have any issue at step 7, then there might be some configuration on your device itself. You can clear the cookies and stored data (Settings => Browsing privacy => Clear cookies...), and try again.
Tell me if any of these solution work.

I followed all the steps.
In the "network" tab (in WebIDE), I get: "https://login.live.com".
On the computer, the link opens normally.
On the phone, I get "Untrusted Connection" (see attachment).
By deleting cookies and Internet data, it is similar.

Heh, "1970-01-04-09-03-22", (and the screenshot also shows that current date is 1970). Check the date and time settings in Settings, maybe set the date manually then reboot and it might fix the issue.

Date and time issues on this device are well known. Does setting the date to October 21 2015 fix at least the certificate issue?

Whatever the time and date of the phone, you can't import contacts from Outlook.
When the phone is set in the period of validity of Outlook, the phone simply says "Connexion Impossible" (Unable to connect).
When the phone is set outside of the validity period of the certificate of Outlook, the phone displays "Untrusted Connection"

Based on the dates of your screenshot, none of them was taken on October 21st. Did you try by changing the year, the month, the day, and the time so it reflects the current time and date?
