Mozilla crashes after installing Speed Download 1.8fc1
Netscape however works fine with the enhancement, witch speed up downloads AND
browser dramaticly (< 110 K on my ADSL, was in the past always < 60 K).
But: Mozilla craches whenever I start a download...
The browser himselves keeps working fine until I start any download. It quits
immediatly !

Severity: blocker → critical
Mozilla 0.9.7, Build 2002012808
Mac OS X 10.1.2
I can reproduce this issue as well. Install Speed Download 1.8fc1, re-launch
Mozilla, and attempt a download. Browser crashes instantly. All other browser
functions are completely normal.
Did previous versions of Mozilla and/or Speed Download have this problem? What
version and build number did this all start on?
It all started with teh nev version of SD 1.8fc1. Mozilla crashes with every
build they made available yet. The problem seems to me is SD itself, but
Netscape 6.21 and IE 5 isn't involved...

+qawanted - anyone want to run with this?
I'm not going to be near a Mac OS X macintosh for another 2 weeks.
Keywords: qawanted
Re-tested all of this with 0.9.8 milestone, a nightly build (2002021508) and the
latest Speed Download, v1.8fc3.
Both versions of Mozilla continue to instantly crash when downloading with Speed
Download's plugin in the Users/<username>/Library/Internet Plugins folder.
What's new and interesting about this bug is that, now, Internet Explorer has
download issues with SD installed as well. Previously, IE worked just fine with SD.
Does it strike anybody as odd that suddenly this "Mozilla bug" is manifesting in
IE? Leads me to believe the issue is with SD and not Mozilla or IE.
Tom,
What download issue do you have with IE? Everything seems fine to me.
However, SD 1.8fc3 still has the problem with Moz.
Cheers,
Jason.

Color me puzzled.
The last time I tested it with IE, the download never started, and IE froze up.
I tried it five times and got the same results.
This time, it downloaded just fine. The only thing I can say is that this time
IE was not running when I installed the plug-in. So I was able to get it to work
with IE again. Only change was upgrading OS X to 10.1.3, but the readme I saw
didn't specify any changes to IE.
CHECKUP:
I want to see if we can decide if this well-defined enough to be a real problem
that can be reproduced.
Can someon put a URL of where I can get this software, as well as a post Mozilla
0.9.9 update?
The software can be gotten at: http://www.abtdata.com/english/
downloads.html
It crashes under 0.9.9 release and nightly build 2002031308 on Mac OS X
10.1.3

This still happens with the latest of everything:

Exactly the same symptoms (crashing after starting a download) happens in OS 9.

Guys, Just installed Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.0rc1)
Gecko/20020417 and yesterday installed the Mac OS X update. The problem still
exists - unexpected quits after clicking every download link.
I updated SD from 1.3 to 1.8fc5b a couple of days ago thinking it was the
problem although Omniweb and IE have always worked fine with SD. I uninstalled
SD and then deleted the files and Moz downloads files again.

->pluggins.
I reproduced this problem, and used the uninstaller to solve the problem.
The app installs as a plugin, so the crash isn't on us.

The Final version 1.8 works fine. It can be found at http://www.yazsoft.com/.
SD now tell's the user to manually push the back-button after starting al
download. The feature wich made the browser go to the previous page was the
thing that made mozilla crash.
So SD now omits the problem.
