Details
From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.7+) Gecko/20020124 BuildID: 2002012421 After installing Linux 2002012421, I find my home page set to the mozilla start URL. I hit 'home', I'm still at the mozilla start url. I set it in preferences by typing it into the home page url widget and hit 'ok', nothing happens. I set it again through the widget, hit 'ok', quit the browser, restart the browser, I'm still on the mozilla start url, and when I go to the preferences dialog, the home page url is still set to mozilla start. I was finally able to get the home page url changed, but only by visiting my preferred home page in the browser, then bringing up preferences and using the 'use current page' button to set the home page. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Installed 2002012421 Linux 2.Started browser, found myself at mozilla start from not having set my home page url after resetting my profile to test against another bug 3.Try to set the home page url by typing into the appropriate text field in the preference dialog Actual Results: Home page is not changed Expected Results: Home page should be set

Okay, I think this is my bad. I had a munged prefs.js file.. I had tried to transfer an entry from my old profile, but screwed up the grep and cat, leaving a line like: prefs.js:user_pref("browser.chrome.favicons", true); in the prefs.js file. When I quit mozilla, fixed my prefs.js file, and restarted, I was able to successfully change the home url using the text widget in the preferences box.
