When users sign up for sync, they some things will not sync to Android or iOS. We need a concise way to show this in the sign-up flow so that we don't introduce unnecessary friction. See attached.

I think this version makes it really clear and harder to miss, so people are less likely to be frustrated.
If we didn't want to use the asterisks, we could say something like "Add-ons and Preferences do not sync on mobile"

Ryan, when you have a sec, could you let me know what the final string should be?

Vlad, let's use this one (including the lighter coloured asterisks) https://bug1218497.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=8679091

Sorry I missed this before, but can we use "and" instead of "or"?

OK. Will this style of caveat localize easily?

I'm not the best person to answer that, but I think so.

Our L10n IRC folks have shot down the asterisk footnote as L10n-hostile. :(
How about the original design with one of these footnotes:
1. "Syncing add-ons and preferences is not yet supported on mobile versions of Firefox."
2. "Mobile versions of Firefox won't currently sync your add-ons and preferences."

Bill's choice:
3. "Syncing add-ons and preferences is not currently supported on mobile versions of Firefox."

It feels really long. I'd also like to avoid "syncing" here, if possible, and not refer to Android and iOS as versions. It makes them sound lesser somehow. Maybe one of these edits of what I proposed in comment 2:
Add-ons and Preferences do not currently sync on mobile devices
Add-ons and Preferences do not currently sync on Android and iOS

We'll go with #1 as it avoid any legal responsibility to include another footnote like: "iOS* is a trademark of Apple"
Thanks for the quick turnaround!
* iOS is a trademark of Apple

FTR, it would have needed to be "IOS is a trademark or registered trademark of Cisco in the U.S. and other countries and is used by Apple under license." :/
