xp text widget doesn't erase/update entire area given to it

Details

On Mac, when I turn on xp widgets via the pref, I see update problems.
To see:
 * turn on xpwidget pref
 * run apprunner
 * notice that the location area doesn't show the complete blinking caret and it
has some parts of the toolbar drawn in it (relative to the edit area's 0,0) at
the bottom and right and some at the top/right)

Typing in it will update the entire area but it stil shows a solid gray (perhaps
from the main html page?) at the bottom and right sides.
