If I type something like 'pdf.test' in the urlbar, it only offers me a single option: "Visit pdf.test".

It would be nice if there was also a "Search for 'pdf.test'" option as well.
I think we might abuse the action ovverride to force a search, that is, force a search when shift is kept pressed (similarly to what we do with switch to tab).

Also the new one-off search buttons should somehow cover this need (bug 1180944).
