I think that if one opens the addressbook, the primary thing they're gonna do if
they use the keyboard at all is to try to type in a name to search for.
Therefore, the quicksearch box should get focus by default so they can just type.

Steps to Reproduce: open addressbook. start typing.

Actual Results: nothing happens. in fact, it seems that nothing has focus
right now.

Desired Results: the quicksearch box should have focus so that one can easily
find a name.

Additional info: I really think this is a good solution. the only other
options would be to give the address books pane or the address list pane focus,
and one can only do so much scrolling through these books with the keyboard.
Jen, this sounds reasonable. What do you think?
Marking nsbeta1 for accessibility reasons. When you first open the address book
window nothing has focus. Pressing Tab has no effect and you have to use the
mouse to get anything in focus.

marking nsbeta1- for making the url bar have focus initially. When I try this
and hit tab, the directory pane gets focus. I keep hitting tab enough and
eventually quick search gets focus. I never have to use the mouse to get focus
somewhere. If you aren't seeing this, could you open up a different bug on that?

Little Reminder!
I agree with this solution, and disagree with the proposal in Bug 163559.
