-Create new profile
-launch app.
crash on first attempt to launch....subsequent attempts start up fine.

i didn't encounter this using 2002.01.29.11 comm verif bits --then again, i was
using an existing profile, not a new one.

It's actually crashing in Mac menu code (FindItemByCommand), so over to
pinkerton.

this is a dupe of that other bug that se and conrad were seeing that rjc owns.
over to him. i can't see how the menu code (which hasn't changed in a while) is
getting whacked here. it's happening in response to showWindow.
