Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0
Build ID: 20151029151421

Steps to reproduce:

This occurs during normal usage.

Actual results:

On Windows XP SP3 32 bit, running current Firefox (and last several versions), I found the following:

- any time the cache was full, I would begin to see non-loading images; then no new images would load at all
- clearing the cache by itself didn't resolve it
- manually adjusting the cache size didn't resolve it
- clearing the cache and restarting FF didn't resolve it
- clearing the cache ONLY worked to solve the problem if you restarted the computer completely

I did a "Refresh Firefox" to the current version and it didn't help.

Expected results:

I expected clearing the cache to have some result without having to restart the computer.

Summary: Clearing Cache Has No Effect Without Computer Restart → When images stop loading, clearing the cache has no effect without computer restart
Animated GIFs, in particular, were never removed from the cache. That should be resolved in bug 1130968 - bug 686905. We should retest at that point.
