The contents of some e-mails are mistakenly treated as being an image.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0
Build ID: 20151029151421
Steps to reproduce:
After one of the somewhat recent upgrades to Thunderbird e-mails from at least one company that I deal with no longer display/work properly. For some reason Thunderbird seems to see/treat them as containing only an image (as indicated by the mouse cursor changing to the magnifying glass icon). Therefore, links contained in the e-mail won't open the browser and take you to the destination (as they should). I can, however, right-click on a link and successfully copy it. To make sure that the fault didn't lie in the e-mail message itself I forwarded it to my Yahoo account. When I opened it in my Yahoo account (using Firefox) the e-mail displayed as it should and the links worked as they should. Thus, the problem would seem to lie in Thunderbird. If it would help you with testing, I could forward one of these e-mails to you.

I think some HTML-code can cause this behavior, making it impossible to select text from the message.
Try viewing the message body as simple HTML to see if that helps: View -> Message Body As -> Simple HTML.
If that doesn't help, please attach a message here to see what's causing this.

We need to see the message in question. Drag it from the message list in Thunderbird to the desktop (creating a .eml file) and then attach it here.
