Can you check whether you have multiprocess (a.k.a. "electrolysis" or "e10s") enabled? If you do, then I think this is the same issue as bug 1190364.

One way to check is to open "about:support" in your address bar (without the quotes), and check the initial "Application Basics" section for a line called "Multiprocess Windows". If you see a number greater than 0, then it appears you do have e10s enabled.

Another way to check is to look in the Options screen's "General" panel for an "Enable multi-process" checkbox under "Startup". If it's there and checked, you have e10s enabled.

With no update on this bug from the reporter, should it be closed as a presumptive duplicate of bug 1190364?

sounds like a good idea.

Resolution: --- → DUPLICATE
There's no way it could be duplicate of bug 1190364, because e10s wasn't enabled on Release 42
So I suggest another candidate.
