User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0
Build ID: 20151119004053

Steps to reproduce:

Trying to drag & drop an image from a website into Windows Explorer (Win8.1 x64).

Eg. go to https://twitter.com/RTPInstitute/status/667737753925386240 and try dragging and dropping the image into Windows Explorer (doesn't matter if embedded small image or left-click on image for full-size display).

Actual results:

The result is a warning popup with the message "Error moving file or folder - unspecified error" (see attachment), and no image dropped into Windows Explorer.

This has been an issue since DevFox v43, it still worked in v42, IIRC. It does not matter if e10s is enabled or disabled.

Twitter is just an example, dragging and dropping from eg. images.google.com often doesn't work as well. It's just that on Twitter.com (and tweetdeck.twitter.com) it's reproducible, image drag & drop fails 100% of the time.

Expected results:

The image should have been dropped into Windows Explorer, onto my local hard disk.

Drag & drop only works when opening the image in a separate tab, and even then it's not 100% reliable. Right-click > "save image as..." always works.

This issue does not happen in Chromium, Vivaldi, or Internet Explorer. In these browsers drag & drop works as expected.
Summary: DevFox: Image drag & drop from Firefox to Windows Explorer often doesn't work → DevFox: Image drag & drop from Firefox to Windows Explorer often doesn't work when browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 is set to "false"
I installed a fresh version of DevFox and found out that the issue appears only when browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 is set to "false" - so the e10s info in my post above was wrong, my apologies. With this config preference set to "true" drag & drop of images is possible.

Works fine for me, i don't have any problems when dragging and dropping images.
Per default, the preference browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 it's set to true, so having it on false triggers this.

Based on Comment 1, I'm setting the status of this issue to Resoled Invalid.

I just upgraded to 43.0.1. This problem still exists. Basically, when I attempt to drag any image from Google image search to the desktop (Windows 10 64-bit) it gives me the "unspecified error". However, if I right-click on the same image, I can save it to the desktop without any problem. Dragging images to the desktop on other web sites work flawlessly.
I have the same error with since v43 and now with 43.0.2.
This bug made it into the stable version, apparently unrelated to e10s.

Since 43.0 it is impossible to drag & drop images from certain sites. It hasn't been fixed as of 43.0.3.
