Win98SE 2002013003

In the lower left status bar where the browser, mail/news, etc icons are
located, the "pop-up" tooltips are actually "pop-downs". This means that if you
choose to hide the Windows "Task Bar" the tooltips are invisible as they
pop-down below the viewable screen area.

I don't see that. I see them pop up onscreen, directly on top of the icons but
under the cursor where they quickly vanish. Over to Apps

I still see it in 2002030703 Win98SE. Tooltip covers the quicklaunch icons in
the Windows task bar.

My experience with this problem is the following:

If you have your taskbar set to autohide, the tooltips appear over the icons,
but disapear quickly.
If you have the taskbar visible at all times, the tooltips will appear below the
icons, hiding whatever you have on the taskbar.

Perhaps a check to see if the tooltip is inside the window is needed?

Btw. This happens under Windows 2000 also.

Update - 2002050108

Win98SE - If taskbar is visible at all times the tooltips cover the icons. This
is not of concern as the tips only display for 5 seconds.

If the taskbar is set to auto-hide, the status bar is now placed in the
identical spot that the taskbar occupied. If you then mouseover one of the
icons, ie., browser, mail/news, etc. the tooltip will flash so fast you can't
make it out. Another aside here is that once the taskbar is UNhidden, the
Mozilla status bar is "under" it and out of view until you min/max the screen.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020827

This is also of issue on Linux. When Mozilla window is maximized, the "pop-up"
tooltips for browser, composer etc. icons (on the left side of status bar) are
displayed on the right and below the icon. They are not visible in fullscreen
mode, and I suppose that they are not dislayed at all. When I carefully resized
Mozilla window, the tooltips raised as the bottom of window approached the
bottom of screen untill the bottom edge of Mozilla window were few pixels above
the bottom/edge of screen, when I did not see any tooltips or any part of tooltips.

It is opposed to the tooltips for security and offline/online status icons (on
the right side of status bar), which are displayed on the left and below icon in
"windowed" mode, and on the left in fullscreen mode.

What Mozilla should do instead:
Display the tooltips for navigator, composer etc. icons on the left side of
status bar at the right of icon.

Some ASCII art

not fullscreen:

[ICON][status bar status bar status bar status bar][ICON]
    [TOOLTIP] [TOOLTIP]

[ICON][status bar status bar status bar sta[TOOLTIP]ICON]

The tooltip for left icon is not visible
