User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0
Build ID: 20151125004042
Actual results:
Thunderbird already offers three different layouts for the main window: “Classic View”, “Wide View” and “Vertical View”. They all rearrange the three main panes (Folder, Listing?, and Message) in different ways, according to the user’s preference. For the user, the choice of a layout can also be affected by the size of their screen or window.
Currently, when a user resize the main window, the layout stays the same.
Expected results:
There could be a fourth option, “Adaptative View”. In this mode, the layout of the main window would be modified dynamically, according to the current available size.
A working version could simply switch between Wide, Classic and Vertical according to the window width. That’d be good enough. (See attached screenshot for a quick example)
A more complex version would make slight changes in the layout at different breaking points of the window size and ratio, in the way of responsive website designs.
