(Whiteboard: [2016-GBT-Y])

Summary: On behalf of a letter sent in from a Firefox user it was asked that the words "podiatre" "podiatrie" and "podiatrique" were added to the French spellcheck dictionary. It is stated in the letter that since 2002, the words have been added to the corpus of the Grand dictionnaire terminologique from the office of quebecois de la language francais

They would like it added to the French Canadian Dictonary
This is not a Mozilla core bug. Please contact the person who maintains the French Canadian dictionary add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dictionnaires-fran%C3%A7ais/
(or perhaps it's another one, you will know the one you're using)

(I don't see any reason to suspect that the user was using a 3rd-party add-on -- this is probably about the default word-list)

The user in question is not actually on this bug. Per comment 0, rmcguigan filed this bug on behalf of a user who sent in a letter.

In any case: closing this bug isn't particularly useful. I'm reclassifying as Mozilla Localizations::French (there is no French Canadian localization). Hopefully the maintainers of that localization can triage & know where the spellcheck dictionary for french builds is maintained, & whether these words merit being included.

Sorry about that. At least it got some attention that way.

Most likely the answer can be found here:

The reporter should contact the org that maintains the French dictionary:
http://www.dicollecte.org/

podiatrie and podiatrique are already in the dictionary:
http://www.dicollecte.org/entry.php?prj=fr&id=225239
http://www.dicollecte.org/entry.php?prj=fr&id=225238

podiatre was proposed as an addition but not included yet, which is probably just an oversight:
http://www.dicollecte.org/proposition.php?prj=fr&id=10716

The French dictionary maintenance is a collective work that is used by all open source software, not just Mozilla, so the reporter should have reported the bug in their system (and they do have a nice reporting system, in French, and public forums where all dictionary additions/removals can be discussed), not in Bugzilla.

I added a comment to the podiatre entry in Dicollecte bug entry for Podiatre referencing this bug and asking for the addition of the term.

Marking as wontfix as this is not a Mozilla bug and we now have reported it upstream.

for the record, podiatre will be in the next version of the dictionary (http://www.dicollecte.org/entry.php?prj=fr&id=228640)
