We should be able to chose the start day of the week: sunday or monday!
Now the calendar starts the week by default with sunday and there is no way to change it.

It’s a per locale setting. Should it be something else in your locale?
See all the values for each locale on master: https://transvision.mozfr.org/string/?entity=shared/date/date.properties:firstDayOfTheWeek&repo=gaia
Week starts on Monday (1) or Sunday (0) or Saturday (6).

I live in Belgium and the week starts monday! Language is set to English(US) as I want my phone to display info in english and not in dutch.

The value for romanian is also wrong in that list. I am a romanian and I know for sure that the week starts also on monday

Ok, there are two issues here, then.
Regarding the first one, it’s currently not possible to decouple this setting from the locale. If you’re using en-US locale, you get the setting for the US. Having a way to edit this setting would be a feature request (You can morph this bug to request this feature here).
And regarding the second one, please file a bug under Mozilla Localizations > Romanian (ro), so that the Romanian team can update this value in their repository if necessary.

Ok, I will do it. Can you please tell me how to change the bug to request the feature here? It's the first time I do this. Thanks

Click on the "Edit" link next to the bug title, than you can update it.

hm...for the status I only see: UNCONFIRMED, NEW, ASSIGNED, RESOLVED. I don't see the feature request

There is no such thing actually, I only suggested you to update the bug title to something like "Add a setting in Calendar to let the user overwrite firstDayOfTheWeek value".
At this point, it’s probably better to file a new one, all of our comments make it difficult to read. I’ll go ahead and close this one, then.
Can you file a new one with a title similar to what I’m suggesting, and all the necessary details in the description, please? Details would be current behavior, what you would like to have, and reasons for that.
Thanks!

Apparently, these are the faulty strings:
http://mozilla.locamotion.org/ro/translate/#search=firstDayOfTheWeek&sfields=source,locations
I think Portuguese also has this problem.

Thanks!
Just remembered that while there is no status for feature requests, there is a keyword. Added it to your bug.
