Steps to reproduce:

1. Click Write button.
2. Click the address To: field
3. start entering a known collected email address
4. pause
5. add another more letter to refine the search

Actual results:

The dropdown box which should propose matching address found, collapses and no address can be visibly chosen. was working some month ago.


Expected results:

See attached picture, the dropdown box is displayed first, if I enter all filtering letters quick enough without pause. (second attached picture)

The first picture shows the bugged state.

I use this feature all the time to enter destination email.

A work around is to use address book window to filter addresses outside, cut and paste, or drag and drop.

I have the same issue and it is very annoying because I use this functionality all day.

My Thunderbird version is 38.7.2 running on linux x86_64 (Xubuntu 14.04).

Some update.

The bug is still present in xubuntu 16.04 64bits, but with the ~/.thunderbird/ copied from my previous install.

If someone could give some steps to reproduce by adding removing some feature(s), or content, or garbage address or some suggestion. To have the minimal environment.

Sylvain, are you still seeing this problem in TB 78?

I think I have sometimes seen cut-off autocomplete results popup during recent testing, but no clear pattern.
