Very few pages I am surfing with build 2002020105 on Mac OS 9.2.2 are allowing me to use the scroll wheel on my Kensington Mouse-In-A-Box Optical Pro with Kensington MouseWorks 5.7, and the few that do scroll one line for every five wheel motions I make. Very annoying. (This bug submission page itself will not scroll for me.) Scrolling still works fine for me in Netscape 6.2.1 (or as fine as it ever did -- the "activate the current pane" thing is a pain.)

DO NOT CLOSE THIS BUG AS A DUPLICATE! Since they don't want bug 63463 to be reopened, I am reopening this bug that should NOT have been marked as a duplicate since this is an issue that was earlier resolved but no longer works as expected. Mouse: Kensington Mouse-In-A-Box Optical Pro Driver: Kensington MouseWorks 5.7 OS: Mac OS 9.2.2 Mozilla: 0.9.8, 0.9.9 Issue: Scrolling has deteriorated since Netscape 6.2.1, with many supposedly active windows / areas not scrolling at all and those that do scroll doing so only with much movement of the wheel and only one line at the time. Steve Dagley asked in bug 63463: "I'd like to ask a question here since I haven't seen a new bug yet as pink requested - does the scrolling behavior differ if the cursor is directly over the scroll bar instead of somewhere in the window content area?" It appears to scroll in the same way -- with much movement of the mouse wheel (like running a toy car along a linoleum floor to wind it up), I can get it to move maybe one line every second or so. Certainly not as smooth as with Netscape 6.2.1.

Thank you so much for giving this bug more consideration. I know it's hard to do so when there are so many other bugs to take care of and it's hard to target one particular type of mice. Upon further inspection, I am actually getting more (but not all) pages to scroll. The rate, however, does not seem to match the movement I make with the wheel. Whether I move the wheel one "point" (noticable change) or move it as much as I can with my finger, it only scrolls at about one line per second. The issue, then, is that Mozilla is not picking up all of the scroll wheel motions.

In bug 137300, I note that under RC1 (Mac OS 9.2.2, MouseWorks 5.7), use of the scroll wheel causes the cursor to change to the sidebar resize cursor, making the toolbar buttons and input bar unclickable.

I am also using Mac OS 9.2.2 and RC1 with my Kensington Mouse-In-A-Box Optical Pro and I'm having the same scroll wheel problems. Two new things I have noticed: 1. When I try to scroll using the scroll wheel, random lines of text will get selected. 2. If I click on the scroll bar on a list within a web page, than my scroll wheel works like a charm, but only on the list.
ditto in mozilla 1.0 final on MacOS 9.2.2 - with latest driver mouseworks 5.7, scroll wheel may scroll the window 1 "jump" then no more, also selects a line or two of text which can be repeated but no scrolling happens. It will also collapse the addressing panel when composing mail. Select lists within a web page will scroll fine; they are still using system toolbars. Scroll wheel works fine on OS X, with or without mouseworks installed.

Kensington Mouseworks 6.0.1 / Expert Mouse Pro USB and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 refuse to play nice. Scroll wheel will work intermittently, slowly when it does at all (est. 1 line per second). I have attempted to change this from 3 lines at a time to 5 and office 97 style - these options disable scrolling all together. Smart scroll is non-functional and auto-scroll drives down to the end of the page and will not scroll back up.

Wow, a Mac OS 9 specific bug that hadn't been assassinated yet. It has been now.
