Details

When I'm in mailnews, and have selected an account other than my default one, it makes sense to use that account when I press Ctrl+M. But when I have a mailnews window open in the background but is currently working in a navigator window, I'd like Ctrl+M (or clicking a mailto: link) to use the default account rather than the one selected in the mailnews window.
reporter, which build are you using? Did you have a news account or newsgroup seleted in the mail application when you did ctrl+M from the browser? Because we have a known bug on this issue.
I can reproduce this on the latest build. It doesn't matter if it's a news account or another mail account.
Oh, and I'm on Win2k.
Bug 103869 seems to be the opposite of this one.
It turns out that the current behavior is intended (see bug 79053).

(Accidentally changed the severity to normal, sorry. Setting back to enhancement.)

Setting severity to normal again. I have given this some more thought, and I now view it as a bug, not an RFE. Mailnews and Navigator are two completely separate applications which happen to share the same process. The state of my mail window should not have any effect on how my browser behaves when I click a link.
