Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 SeaMonkey/2.39 In a message with two attachments I have selected one and used the function detach which saved the attachment as intended. But instead of deleting the selected attachment, all attachments were gone leading to dataloss.

Things are getting strange. After revisiting the message, the formerly gone attachment is back. So the actual bug is that the attachments are no longer visible after detaching, but when coming back are there again.
Keywords: dataloss
Summary: Detaching one of multiple attachment deletes all other (dataloss) → Detaching one of multiple attachment deletes all other

I can't exactly reproduce reporter's problem with SeaMonkey German 2.39 final Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:42.0 from official download area) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 Build 20151103191810 (Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit. My observations: 1. Import attached email (or create a similar one, what might be more easy because of Bug 684924 2. Send to an own e-mail-account 3. Click received mail in Thread Pane 5. In Mail View Pane 'rightlick attachment "Text1.txt" → Detach → confirm warning and save' » File "Text1.txt" will be saved as expected Unexpectedly a "Text1.txt" will stay as attachment, but text contents will be replaced by "You deleted an attachment from this message. The original MIME headers for the attachment were: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; name="Text1.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="Text1.txt"" Additional information ---------------------- a) the detached attachment "Text1.txt" wih show new different size b) for "Text1.txt" context menu will no longer offer "detach" option c) but for "pictures.png" the detached attachments still will show up in browser as picture after a double click d) I would have expected that the detached attachment simply will vanish from the attachments list pane @reporter: e) is my assumption concerning your OS "WINDOWS 8.1" correct? f) was that ok for you with SM 2.38? g) can you test Thunderbird?

Reduce importance because of "no dataloss" Back to "unconfirmed" because we still need some clarifications: i) some details of unexpected observations might be k) related to OS or attachment file type? l) related to e-mail account type? I did test with POP3 account

I reduced this one to the text-attachment problem for what e detailed step by step instruction how to reproduce does exist. k): for other attachment file types results are different in some details, but also detach single file will not work correctly g): Thunderbird shows similar behavior like older SM versions (I tested 2.35): After detachment file size will not change in attachment files list pane, but like in 2.39 file will be replaced by detached-message. m) I did not find a clear DUP in <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=DUPs1235208&sharer_id=41036> @reporter: Please report a new Bug if you have different observations for different file types (or whatever other differences to this report) @Ian: Please feel free to forward to Product Mail Core or similar after review

To answer your questions: OS is Windows 2012. I don't use the function often, so I haven't seen the behavior before, but cannot confirm id would not have happened. Also no Thunderbird available.
