Steps to reproduce:

I was going to look up the agenda Calendar Lightning.
Thunderbird 38.5 stopped showing Calendar/Agenda....No sign of calendar file anywhere.
The error file show:

The error message is from the Google provider missing the required Lightning.

Are there any further error messages?

Is in your TB profile a subfolder extensions/{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} or extensions/staged/{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}?

I switched to the integrated Google Agenda in Thunderbird. Work like a charm and really really fast, resolving a frustrating performance weakness of the addson.
Thanks for the inquiry but I am closing this issue, as fixed tru this alternative.
