This source code is subject to the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and
other U.S. law, and may not be exported or re-exported to certain countries
(currently Afghanistan (Taliban controlled areas)

Anyone been following the news outside the office lately?
I am not a lawyer. Do not take anything I say as legal advice.

Has any work been done on this?
Keywords: mozilla1.0
I believe this wording comes from an official State Department list of rogue
(terrorist suppoprting) countries. I'm not sure that has changed oficially.
Looks like the appropriate agency is the Bureau of Industry and Security, under
the US Department of Commerce. Prior to 4/18/02 it was called the Bureau of
Export Administration (BXA). http://www.bxa.doc.gov/
Specific information on the recent changes to export rules involving Afghanistan
is here:

I can't find any references to "Taliban" on mozilla.org now.
