I can't read that forum post though, not even after registering, and so I have no idea why the author thinks you should blame Mozilla. More information would be helpful. Andreas, any ideas?

Without the actual XPI file or link to the AMO page I can't do anything beyond just wild guessing.

Not sure if that would be helpful.

Visit the https://www.foxtrick.org/ and download, the extension looks is signed. Reporter, please reinstall it to ensure that it is the signed version.

I don't understand the tweet too, maybe the developer have obstacles to debugging or release new versions on AMO?

The reporter, after the firefox update, already reinstalled foxtrick many times but after a correct installation he got foxtrick disabled (it's only a matter of time). He download foxtrick from its homepage (www.foxtrick.org).

I got these info from Hattrick internal forum, I suggested him to open a bug here after contacting AMO editors.

I also got reports by some users about my extension with same issue: https://addons.mozilla.org/it/developers/addon/htlivesight/versions/1780389

Not all users got this issue, on my Firefox it's ok and I cannot reproduce this issue.

Here is a picture of the status of these addon from another user: http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/1064/2463043402.png

Both HTLivesight and Foxtrick are unlisted and both were installed without issues, but after some time they were disabled but not for all users.

If the add-on can be installed just fine but gets deactivated suddenly while Firefox is running, then the add-on files have been modified. Maybe this add-on runs some routines that creates or modifies files within the add-on folder?

Well, for my add-on I'm sure it doesn't modify or generate files directly. There are sound files played, images loaded, but it doesn't write on local disk. May be it's the OS doing some changes into it? My add-on is unpacked, it seems to me Foxtrick is unpacked too.
From a discussion I read on Hattrick forum, there were two thumbnail database files created automatically by Windows in Foxtrick folder:

Thumbs.db
skin/Thumbs.db

May be this could be the problem?

That is entirely possible.

Thanks, I'll try to help users removing this automatic file generation from their OS and see if the issue is solved. Thanks for the precious help and for your time. I'll let you know if this will solve the issue.
Why are you unpacking your extension?

> Why are you unpacking your extension?

Because it's easy to develop with it unpacked (edit code and verify the result on Firefox). I suppose we should release it as packed to avoid this issue again, if this is confirmed.

Update: Usually users don't answer anymore after asking more technical info. Only one told me that he changed images content in add-on folder, so at least in one case add-on was tempered. If there are any other news I'll try to update this issue.

With WebExtensions being the only valid way of doing extensions in Firefox 57, I don't think this bug is still relevant.
