RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1235612

People

(Reporter: twatson52, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0
Build ID: 20151221130713

Steps to reproduce:

Open the following video in Firefox and in Chrome ( http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--q0etD93V--/c_scale,f_auto,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/h1rstt6q3tvfrjmfljl1.webm ).

Actual results:

Firefox shows that the tab with the video is playing sound (which is present in the file). Chrome does not; it seems to detect that though a sound channel is present, it's entirely silence, and as such does not display the indicator.

Expected results:

I would hope for Firefox to realize the audio track is entirely silent and not show the icon like Chrome does. Note that this bug is different from ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1190040 ) because, while the file has a sound channel, it's entirely silent. This is not a file with only a video channel and no sound channel.
