Motivation: https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/dashboard/response/5763308 Current forget password wording " Resetting your password will erase your browsing data from our servers. Any data on your devices will remain untouched. Begin the reset process by entering your email below. " Adding a wording here that explains that the data that is on the local computer will be what is synced if you reset your password. Previous synced data will not be accessible. To avoid data loss, make sure you have a local back up... Or something like this to warn the common mistake if they find themselves in the situation mentioned in the input link above.

Alternative idea: a link to a kb article that gives a brief explanation of this. If that was the case I can add this to the support kb component

we are also continually seeing questions on sumo by people claiming that they didn't get adequate warning before they reset their password: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1101906 and at least within the account settings i don't see any particular warning either that this will result in all sync data stored on the server being rendered useless: https://accounts.firefox.com/settings/change_password

Ryan, I think you've been working on that text - any thoughts here?

This is the current reset process. All of it, but perhaps the second step, needs new copy. Any suggestions? I'm tempted to include a checkbox. It's difficult because not all users are single-device Sync users (but most of them are).

I wonder if it is as simple tweaking the "Any data on your devices will remain untouched" sentence - something like "Any data on your devices will remain untouched and will re-sync after the reset"?

Ryan, since this is an FxA feature/improvement, I suggest we do the definition/UX work through an Aha card and PR on the fxa Github repo that we've done the other feature definition work (https://github.com/mozilla/fxa/tree/master/features).
