Steps to reproduce:

TB prompted to update 2016-01-06's 46.0a1 on 01-07, did so.


Actual results:

When TB restarted, all panes were blank, as with bugs 1213611 duped to 1209777. Some change to the software has reverted to this behavior. I uninstalled Daily and reinstalled the 01-06 software, which reinstated the pane contents.


Expected results:

TB should've restarted with its panes as in the 01-06 Daily.  I was re-prompted to upgrade on 01-08, the same thing happened, and I back-graded to the 01-06 again. How can I help troubleshoot & re-test this?

Allow it to update again.
If problem appears, start thunderbird in safe mode
- http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode
Your screen should be good.
- go to tools | addons
- remove the lightning addon
- restart thunderbird
- if you need the lightning addon, add it back at tools | addons

I use 64-bit nightly in Windows 8.1; safe mode does not help to fill blank panes.
Currently, January 4 is the latest good 64-bit build.

As of Jan. 8, I get no update offer from Jan. 4 46.0a1's About | Help. I'll try forcing an update to the latest Comm_Central. Results from Jan. 8's Comm-central install: In safe-mode, panes empty, cannot get into Tools | Add-Ons at to do anything. Click on that menu entry, no response.

I'm sure this is a dupe of bug 1237602 which is progressing but not fixed yet.

Helge, if bug 1237602 is fixed and the next successful nightly build is still broken, don't hesitate to reopen this bug.

Today's 32-bit build properly displays panes and messages; the same for 64-bit.
