Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0
Build ID: 20160105164030

Steps to reproduce:

Select File->Close Window

or

Right Click on Dock Icon -> Quit

Force Quit does not kill Firefox either.

Actual results:

Windows disappear but icon stays in Dock. This also prevents OS X from shutting down.

Expected results:

Firefox to completely shutdown.

A workaround to quitting Firefox after trying the above, from terminal:

sudo killall launchservicesd
sudo killall Dock

or you can shutdown OS X if you leave Firefox window open
I've tried running in safe mode with addons disabled and results are the same.

Can you try with a new profile? ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles ) What kind of machine are you encountering this on?

Whilst I have not tried with a new profile the issue seems to have disappeared.

I guess you could close this issue for now and I'll investigate if it comes back.

Thanks!

Yes, but I can't speak for Steve and I don't know that it's relevant. Let's follow this up in the issue you filed.

I have had this after an update (I don't use BETA's). It hasn't happened for a while. I will keep an eye on it and report back any findings.
