I know YouTube does that nicely when you are logged into Google, but I'd love to understand if this could also be possible via Firefox Accounts. You watch a video on Desktop, and want to continue watching it when you open it on another device, remember playback time, for any video player, e.g. embedded Vimeo, other propriety players.

I think this would be really hard to implement, I don't know that it's worth trying to do this.
