Details

(Keywords: regression)

STR:
1. Load https://vimeo.com/
2. Scroll down to the video thumbnails.
3. Quickly mouse over them.

RESULT:
The thumbnail images flash black or smaller images when the text overlays are loaded. Once a thumbnail image has flashed, it doesn't flash as much if you continue to mouse over it, as if the image has been cached.

This is a regression in FF 45, but I was not able to bisect to a narrower regression range.
[Tracking Requested - why for this release]:

This bug appears to be a layout regression in FF 45.

@ Alice, do you have time to try bisecting this regression? I tried twice, but I landed on two different pushlogs that didn't make sense (one in October 2015 and another in November 2015). I am running OS X 10.11, if it matters.

Seems it works as expected on 46.0a1 & 45.0a2 windows7 with/without HWA.
Flags: needinfo?(alice0775)
I can reproduce the problem with FF 46 on Windows 10 (in a VM).
@ Seth, I believe this vimeo.com bug is a regression in FF 44 from your size prediction bug 1207355. This might be a duplicate of bug 1225934 or bug 1235093.

I bisected this regression to this pushlog:

Tracking for 45+ as this is a recent regression.
Suspected dupe of bug 1225934; will verify.

I can't reproduce on OS X, so I've been able to establish either way whether this should be duped. Chris, can you still reproduce on current Nightly on OS X? If not, what platform are you reproducing on?

Needinfo me when you reply as I'd like to prioritize fixing this.
Flags: needinfo?(cpeterson)
I can still reproduce this problem on OS X 10.11 on my MacBook Pro. I am pretty sure this is a duplicate of bug 1225934.

Here is revised STR:

1. Load https://vimeo.com/
2. Scroll down to the video thumbnails in "Watch the world’s best videos from our passionate community" section (in the middle of the page), *not* the "Purchase films and series and support creators" section at the bottom of the page.
3. *Slowly* mouse over them.

RESULT:
The thumbnail images flash black or a smaller version of image will expand from the upper-left corner of the thumbnail box. Once a image has flashed, it won't flash again if you continue to mouse over it.

Jet, do you know who else could help with this issue? It would be great to fix it for 46? Thanks
Flags: needinfo?(bugs)
Appears to be fixed in bug 1225934. We'll request an uplift from that bug.

Seth, can you follow up to figure out what we might try to uplift to get this fix in 46?
Flags: needinfo?(seth)
Actually, never mind, we uplifted the fix in bug 1225934 today. So we can mark this fixed in 46 now.
After we release beta 4 we should verify the fix. Chris you can probably verify on aurora with tomorrow's build if you have time!

Just needinfo'ing Chris to make sure this gets verified. I was never able to reproduce this one.
Flags: needinfo?(cpeterson)
Verified fixed in Aurora 47.
