Details

Identified in Moz 0.9.8 and earlier

When a mozilla browser can't connect to a site it pops up a dialog. The window
then becomes useless until OK is clicked.

Worse, the dialog tends to popup in front of all other activities.

Can this be fixed. A simple message in the status bar would suffice. Even an IE
style error page would be better than a modal popup dialog that gets in the way.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch several windows
2.set window 1 to open a site with an invalid hostname
3.click on window 2

Actual Results: First window temporarily popped over window 2. A dialog also
popped up. Had to click on OK before window 1 could be used again.

Expected Results: window 1 should have done a non-intrusive error. Either a
message in the status bar or a message in the browser window. Nothing should
popup in front of me.
Hear Hear! I agree completely, this modal dialog is very annoying indeed.
